Jean’s Story
This is the story of my pet [dog], Sable; she is a cancer survivor. Sable is a Welsh Corgi. When she was six and a half she was losing her tongue. Her tongue looked like something had been chewing on it. She was taken to the veterinary on April 25, 2005. They did surgery and removed part of her tongue. It was sent off for diagnosis. The diagnosis confirmed it to be Squamous Cell Carcinoma grade II to III. Sable was given clean margins at that time. I started her on Poly May 10, 2005. She was getting one teaspoon twice daily. The squamous cell can travel very fast and the prognosis of Sable at that time was guarded to poor for long-term survival unless the entire primary mass can be removed. Her cancer was back within a month. She had not been on Poly long enough for it to really start to help in the prevention of her cancer.
Our family veterinary recommended that I taker her to Boren Vet. Med. Teaching Hospital at Oklahoma State University. She was taken there on June 30, 2005 and had surgery. They were more radical with the removal of two-thirds of her tongue. The report came back this time with clean margins and a 50% chance that it could come back.
Sable was on a teaspoon of Poly twice daily for six months then a teaspoon daily for another six months. A year later Sable went to the veterinary for her check up and was given a clean report. Sable has been cancer free now for 17 months. She is still on her Poly at 5 ccs per day and will remain on Poly for the rest of her life at the maintenance level.
Her doctor has been surprised she is cancer free because of how fast it reappeared after her first surgery. Sable is eight years old now and doing very well. I believe in Poly and I take it myself, ½ teaspoon, daily as a preventative.
